Artist Statement

I use a strong, expressionistic color palette to underscore my primary theme . . . the awkward tensions behind social relationships.

I employ ambiguous figurative arrangements to illustrate these narratives, allowing the viewer to use their own prejudices and experiences in discovering each work's meaning.

For my part, I find it very easy to lose myself in the activity behind creating a new work. You are caught in the action. You concern yourself with the little details: the right stroke, the most expressive color. Then, when the labor is finished, you step back and realize what you've been trying to say all along.
